Go Tan Emping are artisan Indonesian nuts chips. The nuts for Emping are picked from Melindjo (Gnetum gnemon) trees in the gardens of Java island. Then they are brought to the local village where they are manually roasted, smushed and sun dried. One Emping chip is made with three to five Melindjo nuts. The Empings are then baked gold-brown in vegetable oil. Go Tan family is an Emping specialist for decades! Emping is eaten with meals or as a snack. Emping has a nutty and slightly bitter taste. It is often eaten with a hint of salt.
